Description
The heirloom of creamy sweetness and compact size. ‘Burgess Buttercup’ produces deep green, turban-shaped fruits with light ribs and a signature button on the blossom end. Inside, the orange flesh is dry, smooth, and richly flavored—sweet enough to eat plain.
Vines are productive and vigorous, with fruits averaging 3–5 pounds. Excellent for baking, mashing, or pureeing, and a fine keeper through winter.
Introduced in 1932 by Burgess Seed & Plant Co., this variety remains the standard for buttercup types—dense, sweet, and truly comforting.
