Description
The rare heirloom that paints heat in violet tones. ‘Buena Mulata’ produces slender, twisting pods that ripen from lavender to deep orange-red, with a flavor that balances medium heat and gentle fruitiness. The peppers are perfect for pickling, frying, or drying into colorful flakes.
Plants grow 24–30 inches tall and are highly ornamental, their purple stems and blossoms matching the early fruit color. Matures in about 75–85 days from transplant.
First introduced by Horace Pippin, an African American painter and seedkeeper, this variety carries both cultural and culinary heritage—a beautiful fusion of color, art, and spice.
