Faust – A hulless, awnless barley that is therefore easier to thresh and clean than standard types when in small scale home production. Many tillers. Somewhat susceptible to barley rust. Moderately susceptibility to lodging in heavy weather. Faust is named after A. J. Faust of Dillon, Montana, who developed this variety. A single plant was found in a field of Himalaya barley. Faust dates back to at least 1936.
