A connected garden decision system
What My Garden Plan combines
My Garden Plan turns separate calculations into one working record. It brings together a local climate profile, growing spaces, site-matched crops, plant and packet estimates, sowing and transplant dates, soil and water planning, harvest goals, accessibility needs, and seedkeeping intentions. A gardener can still use any focused calculator by itself, but the connected plan prevents the same information from being entered repeatedly.
The plan is built from the conditions and goals you enter plus maintained Alliance crop and variety records. It is a planning aid, not a guarantee of emergence, survival, yield, harvest date, or seed purity. Weather, soil, seed lot, pests, irrigation, timing, and management still affect results.
The eight planning stages
- Profile and goalsRecord experience level, household or program goals, preservation plans, seed-saving intentions, and accessibility preferences.
- Growing spacesCreate named beds, rows, fields, or container areas with dimensions, sunlight, soil, drainage, water, and support information.
- Crop matchingCompare maintained crop records with the selected space and add every suitable crop or variety you want to consider.
- Plants and packetsEstimate plant sites, seed allowance, packet needs, and reserve seed while keeping assumptions visible.
- Local calendarUse frost and hard-freeze information, crop maturity, germination, and planting method to build practical sowing, transplanting, and harvest windows.
- Soil and waterEstimate bed volume, compost or mulch needs, irrigation demand, and optional drip-system planning without forcing beginners through advanced calculations.
- Harvest and seedkeepingRecord fresh-eating, preservation, storage, and seed-saving goals, then send selected crops into Seedkeeper Planner where needed.
- Review and exportPrint, copy, or download a plan that can be updated throughout the season and kept with garden records.
Accessibility is part of the plan
Accessibility settings are not isolated in a separate calculator. They can influence bed dimensions, path width, reach, lifting, watering frequency, crop placement, support systems, and the size of each task. Use the preferences that are useful to you, including seated access, wider paths, reduced bending, lower maintenance, shorter work sessions, plain-language steps, and print-friendly output.

The working plan is stored in the browser on the device being used. Alliance does not receive the garden dimensions, crop choices, saved profile, or planner answers merely because the tool is used. Location services require permission, and a customer may enter frost dates manually instead. Clearing browser storage, using private browsing, or changing devices can remove a locally saved plan, so print or download important records.
Modern planning calendar and future traditional calendar
The calendar in this release is a modern frost- and crop-record planning layer. It does not claim to represent the traditional calendar. The Traditional Seedkeepers' Calendar will be developed separately from the calendar framework and terminology supplied by Alliance, then connected as an additional seasonal view rather than invented from generalized material.
Frequently asked questions
Does the planner buy or reserve seed?
No. Packet estimates are planning figures. Check each linked product page for current availability before ordering.
Can I create more than one growing space?
Yes. Name separate beds, rows, fields, or container areas and assign selected crops to the appropriate space.
Are planting and harvest dates guaranteed?
No. They are ranges based on the information entered, maintained crop records, and historical climate references. Current forecasts and field conditions still matter.
Can I save the plan to an account?
Not in this release. The plan remains in the browser and can be printed, copied, or downloaded.
Does the planner replace Cooperative Extension?
No. Local Extension remains the appropriate source for location-specific recommendations, soil-test interpretation, diagnosis, and regulated treatment guidance.
