  • Planting: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep directly into garden beds or containers after the last frost, or start indoors 6-8 weeks prior.
  • Spacing: Space plants 12-18 inches apart to allow for bushy growth.
  • Soil: Use well-draining, fertile soil enriched with compost or organic matter. Maintain a pH of 6.0-7.5 for optimal results.
  • Sunlight: Provide full sun exposure for vibrant leaf color and strong growth.
  • Watering: Keep soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Avoid overwatering to prevent root issues.

We love purchasing from ANS. That being said, we had difficulty getting these seeds to germinate in seed blocks. Not sure if we did something wrong, or if they had poor germination. We had trouble with other basil seeds too so it’s possible that we need some tips on basil seeds starting.

Hi Jordan!

Thanks for being an awesome supporter! Also thanks for your honesty. We're sorry that you had problems with germination with this basil. It can be a bit difficult compared to other types. With that said, please reach out to us at seeds@allianceofnativeseedkeepers.com so we can try to figure out what may have happened.

Additonal good news is that I've been working weeks on our product pages to include better and highly detailed information to better help customers with each seed. These product photos will even include suggested planting days, transplant days, and when to start expecting a harvest. Also they will include a generator that will allow people to plug in soil test results so they know exactly what adjustments they may need to make for each type of seed they have.

As we gain more capacity, I'll be able to add other educational material. You can always reach out to us aswell if you're having any complications, the earlier the better so we can diagnoise and come up with a solution.

Once again thanks!
