Potential Delays Due to Weather 1/21/2025

Eastern North Carolina is bracing for a rare winter storm, with significant snowfall expected to impact travel and daily operations. Our region’s infrastructure isn’t built for such conditions, as it's often more practical to shut down temporarily rather than invest in costly winter adaptations. This storm may cause delays in shipping and order fulfillment due to hazardous road conditions and carrier disruptions. Additionally, power and internet outages could temporarily affect communication and processing times. Our current seed building, located on a long gravel road, isn’t designed for extreme cold, and while our new store building will be much better suited for all weather conditions, it's not yet ready for us to move into. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these challenges.

Potential Delays Due to Weather 1/21/2025 - Alliance of Native Seedkeepers

Hey winter gardeners,

On January 21, 2025, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for much of eastern North Carolina. The forecast called for snow across the region, with expected totals varying by location.

Expected impacts

❄️ Roads, bridges, and overpasses were expected to become slick and hazardous. Shipping and order-fulfillment delays were also possible because of road conditions, carrier disruptions, and the risk of power or internet outages.

Snowfall is uncommon in eastern North Carolina, and local roads and infrastructure are not equipped for winter weather in the same way as colder regions. At the time, our seed building was also located down a long gravel road and was not designed for extreme cold.

We asked customers for patience while our team monitored conditions and worked around any carrier or utility interruptions. This archived notice remains part of our company record, but it does not describe current shipping conditions.
