Description
The classic butternut that set the standard. ‘Waltham Butternut’ produces uniform, tan-skinned fruits with deep orange flesh and a smooth, nutty sweetness that intensifies in storage. The flavor is rich and velvety, making it ideal for soups, roasting, and baking.
Vines are strong and productive, yielding 3–6 pound fruits with small seed cavities for maximum flesh. Keeps exceptionally well through winter months.
Developed in the 1970s by the Massachusetts Experiment Station, ‘Waltham’ became the world’s leading butternut variety—beloved for taste, texture, and reliability.
