Description

The Speckled Roman Roma Tomato is an indeterminate heirloom variety renowned for its striking appearance, exceptional flavor, and versatility in the kitchen. Maturing in about 85–90 days, this tomato produces elongated, 5–7 inch fruits with bright red skin beautifully streaked with golden-orange stripes—creating a flame-like pattern that stands out in every harvest basket.

Fruits are dense, meaty, and low in moisture, making them perfect for sauces, paste, roasting, and sun-drying. The flavor is rich, sweet, and complex, blending the depth of a classic Roma with the bright acidity of a slicer. Few seeds and thick flesh make it ideal for slow-cooked dishes and canning, where intensity of flavor and texture matter most.

Plants are vigorous and high-yielding, growing 6–8 feet tall and continuing to produce steadily through the season. They perform best in full sun, fertile soil, and consistent deep watering, with mulch helping to maintain even soil moisture and reduce cracking.

Originally developed by John Swenson as a cross between Antique Roman and Banana Legs, Speckled Roman combines heirloom genetics with artistic beauty—a standout Roma that delivers both visual appeal and gourmet performance in every fruit.
