The speckled romaine of Austrian legend. ‘Forellenschluss,’ meaning “speckled like a trout,” produces elongated heads with crisp green leaves splashed in maroon-red spots. The flavor is buttery and sweet, with delicate texture and elegant appearance.
Plants grow 10–12 inches tall and are slow to bolt, thriving in both spring and fall. Its unique pattern and mild flavor make it a favorite for gourmet salads.
