65 Days. Pole. This beautiful and prolific pole bean makes for an excellent snap and dry bean. Mature 6" pods turn a beautiful purple/maroon and green which holds delicious black beans. This bean was original introduced to the rest of the world by Dr. John Wyche or Oklahoma. Dr. Wyche was a Cherokee man who also introduced Dr. Wyches Yellow Tomato, and Tomatillo. Dr. Wyche described this bean as being carried by his ancestors during the US genocide against the Cherokee. His ancestors were removed from their homes within the Great Smokey Mountains and forced marched down a 2,200-mile trail known as the Trail of Tears which claimed over 4,000 lives. Nearly 46,000 Cherokee and indigenous people from other nations were removed to Oklahoma on this trail.
